Persepolis - Garrison quarters

From the east, we see the Garrison quarters (front), the Hall of hundred columns (center) and the columns of the Apadana (background, right) at Persepolis. The exact function of the Garrison quarters is not known, nor is there certainty about the date of their construction. The name is just conventional.
However, they were constructed after the Hall of Hundred Columns (they have the same dimensions), which were built by king Artaxerxes I Makrocheir (465-424). This picture shows the quarters from the south.
