  • Autumn 249: Decius proclaimed emperor; his wife renamed Herennia Cupressenia Etruscilla Augusta
  • June 251: Decius and his eldest son, Quintus Herennius Decius, killed un action
  • Trebonianus Gallus becomes emperor; he adopts Hostilian, who soon succumbs to the plague; so does his mother
