Nepete: ancient town in southern Etruria, modern Nepi.

Nepete was an Etruscan town, conquered in 383 VC (according to Livy, 6.21) by the Romans after the fall of Veii. It was recognized as a Latin colonia.

The town still boasts some ancient monuments, including Etruscan necropoles, remains of city walls, a Roman mausoleum, a catacomb, and an aquaduct (which the present author had to look at for several hours when his car broke down). Here you can see a satellite photo.
