Pasargadae: Bridge |
|||||||||||||
Pasargadae:
one of the oldest residences of the Achaemenid
kings, founded by Cyrus
the Great (r.559-530).
After entering the Gate, the vistor of Pasargadae would find himself in the garden ("paradise"). If he wanted to visit the Audience Hall or the Residential Palace, he would have to cross a branch of the river Pulvar. There was a bridge, of which some inconspicuous remains are still visible. On the photo, in the background, one can still see the citadel Tall-i Takht. |
