θέντι τὰ μέρη τῶν ἐπάρχων τοῦ πραιτωρίου καὶ Ῥώμης
λαμπροτάτῳ ἀνδρί, ἐπάρχῳ ἐραρίου στρατιωτικοῦ
ἡγεμόνι λεγειῶνος γʹ Αὐγούστης, ἄρξαντι ἐπαρχείου Νουμιδίας,
Ἰουλία Σοαιμιὰς Βασσιανὴ σὺν τοῖς τέκνοις ∙ τῷ ∙ προσ-
φιλεστάτῳ ἀνδρὶ καὶ γλυκυτάτῳ πατρί.

For Sextus Varius Marcellus, overseer of the aqueducts, procurator of Britain, procurator rei privatae, prefect of the imperial guard in Rome, most noble man, overseer of the military treasure of the Third Legion Augusta, governor of Numidia, has Julia Soaemias Bassiana, her most noble wife, with their children, made [this tomb] for their beloved husband and father.
