Twenty-third dynasty: name of several groups of kings during Egypt's "Third Intermediate Period", ruling parallel to the Twenty-second, Twenty-fourth, and Twenty-fifth Dynasties.
- The Twenty-third dynasty consists of several kings, which Manetho (our main sources) presents as one royal house, but in fact ruled from several places on several moments during the Third Intermediate Period. During their reigns, the Twenty-second dynasty controled the north (capitals Boubastis and Tanis), while the Twenty-fifth (Nubian) Dynasties increased its power in the south.
- One group of kings of the Twenty-third dynasty ruled in Leontopolis; all dates are highly contested
- The Twenty-second dynasty, the Twenty-third dynasty, and the Twenty-fourth dynasty (Sais) remain divided until Egypt is reunified by the Twenty-fifth dynasty
